Bagua means "8 houses" or "palaces", and refers to the 8 areas of an individual's life which surround the health center.

We use the bagua as a map to the areas of the environment being analyzed, such as your home. Normally and 8-sided octagon shape, we extend the bagua into a square to make a bagua map which makes it easier to apply to most floor plans.

We lay this bagua map (shown below) over the floor plan of the house, aligned so that the front door of the home falls into one of the front areas - either Knowledge & Self-Cultivation, Career, or Helpful People. Once you have aligned the bagua map with your home, you can then identify the areas of your life that are associated with each section of your home.

Some individuals live in spaces that have areas that are "missing" or that fall outside of the house structure. Remember to include any structures that are attached to the home or are under roof or screen such as attached garages, screened porches, or covered balconies.
